United Fund Drive Blows Past Goal

Sheldon, Iowa — The 2020 Sheldon United Fund Drive has blown past their $30,000 goal, ending up with a total of $34,152 in donations.

A total of $5,980 in donations was received during the last days of December to take the total past their goal by more than $4,000. United Fund officials say the total may continue to grow, depending on any mailed donations that were not received by the end of December.

Last week’s donation amount of $5,980 was the biggest week of the campaign and only the second week that more than $5,000 in donations were received. The week of November 23rd garnered donations of $5,050. The week of November 9th saw the lowest amount of donations, when just $500 was donated to the United Fund Drive.

The 2020 Sheldon United Fund drive supports twenty-five non-profits in Sheldon and surrounding communities, including the American Red Cross, Sheldon Boy Scouts, Children’s World, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Family Crisis Centers of Northwest Iowa, Foster Grandparent Program, Sheldon Girl Scouts, His Little Ones Preschool, Love INC, Meals On Wheels, Noah’s Ark Preschool, Northwest Iowa Life Awareness Council, Prairie Arts Council, Rise Ministries, Sheldon East Elementary Excellence For East, Sheldon Ministerial Association, Sheldon Prairie Museum, Sheldon Rec Department, Sheldon Rec Trails, Sanford Sheldon Home Health and Hospice, Sheldon Shop With A Cop, Special Olympics Iowa, Summer Lunch Program, Upper Des Moines Opportunity and Village Northwest Unlimited for therapy equipment.

Sheldon United Fund organizers say they are thrilled with the total amount of money raised through the 2020 drive and expressed their extreme thanks to the residents and businesses of Sheldon and the surrounding area for making the 2020 United Fund drive such a phenomenal success.
