Sheldon, Iowa — Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon is embarking on a capital campaign to fund construction of two new resident housing units on the Village Northwest Campus.
Village Northwest President and CEO Barry Whitsell says this campaign builds on the Village’s promise.
Whitsell says the Village has invested nearly five-point-three million dollars in infrastructure in the past few years without having to conduct a capital campaign or take on debt.
He says Village Northwest Unlimited has made long-range plans on infrastructure, but felt the long range plan needed to be accelerated, which made this capital campaign necessary.
As part of their capital campaign, the Village is asking the Sheldon City Council to apply for a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of six-hundred-thousand dollars to help fund the construction of the two new buildings. Whitsell explains.
Whitsell says the two new six-person homes will replace one of the twelve person homes that has stood since the Village began back in 1971. He says the new six bed homes will be identical in floor plan to the four homes the Village built since 2015. The new homes will be constructed on the west side of the Village Northwest Unlimited campus.
The new village Northwest Unlimited homes will have a floor plan identical to the house in the photo below.
