With All This Snow, Where’s All The Water Going To Go?

Northwest Iowa — With our copious amounts of snow on the ground, now that it’s been melting a little, the question is coming up — where is all the water going to go when it melts?

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Peter Rogers at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says the news looks to be good in that regard.

Rogers says it’s looking like the conditions might be right to at least capture some of the snow moisture in the ground for crop moisture instead of it all running away.

Rogers says it’s always hard to predict the weather over two weeks away, but as we go through March, he says there are some signals that we could see higher than normal precipitation. So we’ll have to keep an eye on that as well.
