Knowledge Nugget:
From the book, “Images of America – Sheldon” by Tom Whorley and Millie Vos
The last serious Sheldon train wreck occurred in 1953, when one winter afternoon a snowplow collided with the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha passenger train No. 203. The 203 was going south, and the snowplow was headed north. The two hit head on. The engineer of the passenger train was killed, and many people were injured.
Sheldon Museum is celebrating their 50th Anniversary with an Open House this Saturday (October 10th) from 10am to 4pm. The museum is located across the street west of the Sheldon Public Library.
