Don’t forget baler maintenance this fall

IARN — They are often the unsung heroes of the farm. Planters and combines seem to get all the accolades because they put in and take out the crops every single year. However, the baler is an essential tool on many farms, especially if you have livestock to feed.

Just like with any piece of equipment, yearly maintenance is always essential when you’re putting the baler away for the season. The folks at Case IH are passing along some baler maintenance tips that work no matter who made your piece of equipment.

Jim Franceschetti is a product marketing manager for harvest and hay forage at Case IH parts and service. He says the best place to start your maintenance plan is to check your owner’s manual. Once you’ve gone through that, there are a few things that every baler needs to have done. It all starts with a basic cleaning.
