(IARN) — Lawmakers have pushed forward a revised trade agreement.
The Senate Finance Committee Tuesday passed the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on a 25-3 basis. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley commended President Donald Trump, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and his Congressional colleagues for their efforts.
“Today is years in the making. President Trump ran on updating the North American trade deal. Soon, the entire country will benefit as a result,” said Chairman Grassley.
“USMCA will bring much needed certainty and real benefits to America’s farmers, workers, and businesses,” Chairman Grassley said. “Farmers are getting better and more reliable market access. Workers will see thousands of new jobs, particularly in high wage manufacturing industries. Businesses will have an agreement that will reflect the realities of modern commerce, including for the $1.3 trillion U.S. digital economy.”
