(KIWA Staff Photo)Iowa (RI) — The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) says its members remain optimistic about the economy heading into the fourth quarter.
ABI President Nicole Crain says 63% of member companies plan to make capital expenditures during the quarter.
Crain says 47% of ABI members expect sales to increase during the fourth quarter. She says businesses generally see their outlook as stable.
Workforce development remains a concern for many employers, according to Crain.
Crain says the ABI foundation continues to focus on workforce training and outreach to younger people to help them meet future workforce needs.
She also says the recent announcement of a proposed steel mill in southeast Iowa is encouraging news for them.
Crain says the proposed project reinforces the positive outlook shared by many ABI members.
ABI’s member companies represent businesses of all industries and sizes across Iowa’s 99 counties.
