(KIWA Staff Photo)Rock Valley, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A Boyden man is facing four felony charges after authorities allege he stole and cashed three checks belonging to a Rock Valley business.
Diego Hernandez-Hernandez, 30, was arrested Monday, Sept. 28th, according to court documents and an arrest record. He is charged with three counts of forgery and one count of second-degree theft. All four charges are Class D felonies.
According to affidavits filed by the Rock Valley Police Department, Hernandez-Hernandez allegedly stole three blank checks belonging to Swift Ag Repair & Sales, LLC, in Rock Valley. Police allege he forged the business owner’s signature, made the checks payable to himself, and cashed them at a Sioux Center business on three separate occasions.
Court documents identify two checks for $1,500 each, dated Sept. 12th and Sept. 18th, and a third check for $1,800 dated Sept. 26th. The alleged losses total $4,800.
According to the affidavits, Hernandez-Hernandez admitted to stealing and forging all three checks after being advised of his Miranda rights.
At last report, he was being held in the Sioux County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
