(KIWA Staff Photo)Orange City, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has some new equipment that helps train its officers for many different scenarios they may encounter in doing their jobs.
Sioux County Sheriff Sgt. Jose Mora tells us about their new virtual reality equipment.
He tells us more about the system.
He says they train for different situations such as a subject becoming aggressive, pulling a gun, and so forth. He tells us how it works.
He says they had been training with the Le Mars Police Department with an older, but similar system. He says it’s a little outdated and is not a virtual reality system.
Sgt. Mora says the system did come with a hefty price tag, but they did get some help to buy it.
He tells us that after their deputies and jail staff get trained, they plan on making the system available to other agencies both in and outside of Sioux County.
