Washington, D.C. (Sioux County Radio) — The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) recognized U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra with its President’s Award, presented Wednesday during the organization’s summer Corn Congress meeting in Washington.
Feenstra, who serves on the House Agriculture Committee, has been a long-time advocate for corn grower priorities, especially expanding ethanol access. In May, he played a key role in passing legislation in the U.S. House that authorized the sale of year-round E15, a top priority for corn farmers.
Ohio farmer and NCGA member Jed Bower said Feenstra’s work has been significant in advancing corn grower interests and noted that the House vote on year-round E15 would not have happened without his tireless advocacy.
Feenstra said he was honored to receive the award and emphasized that representing one of the nation’s largest corn-producing districts has shaped his focus on issues such as rising input costs. He said year-round E15 remains a major priority and credited corn growers who traveled to Washington to meet with lawmakers. Feenstra added that he intends to continue working with Senate colleagues to move the measure forward.
The NCGA President’s Award is one of the organization’s highest honors and is selected annually by the board president.
NCGA voting delegates meet twice a year during Corn Congress to debate policy and elect new board members.
