Fire Chief: Dig Out Your Hydrant

Sheldon, Iowa — Your help could save someone’s life or property. With all this snow, fire chiefs in northwest Iowa are asking for your assistance.

Hindt says if you dig out your local hydrant, that would be a big help not only to the firefighters, but to your whole neighborhood.

Hindt says the trucks carry about a thousand gallons of water, but it doesn’t take too long to blow through that when fighting a fire. He says in an emergency situation, every second counts.
