Luverne Man Arrested On Felony Drug Charges In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — A Luverne, Minnesota man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

According to court documents filed by the Sheldon Police Department, 36-year-old Ethan James Richards of Luverne faces felony charges of third or subsequent offense possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. He was arrested on Saturday.

In his statement, the officer says Richards was stopped for multiple equipment violations. He says marijuana was located in the vehicle, along with a scale with methamphetamine residue, a marijuana pipe, and an assortment of baggies.

Richards was charged with possession of marijuana, third or subsequent offense, and possession of meth, third or subsequent offense, both class D felonies. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of operating under the influence.

He faces a preliminary hearing on March 11th.

Richards was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the next day after posting bond.
