Sioux County, Iowa (KTIV) — A former West Lyon softball coach has been sentenced to jail after being found guilty of violating a protection order tied to an earlier criminal case.

Court records show 27-year-old Alexis Ann Severson of Rock Valley was sentenced Oct. 15th to 30 days in jail. The sentence is in addition to a previous two-year probation term imposed in an earlier case.

According to court documents, Severson was arrested Aug. 23rd for violating a no-contact order that had been issued in connection with a sexual exploitation case.

In addition to the jail sentence, Severson was ordered to pay a $105 fine, along with court costs and fees.

The sentence will be served in the Sioux County Jail. Court records indicate Severson may be eligible for work release if she meets the requirements of the jail’s work release program.

Earlier Probation Sentence

Severson was placed on probation Aug. 10th after pleading guilty in a case involving a student.

She was originally charged with three counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee and one count of grooming. According to court records, one count of sexual exploitation and the grooming charge were dismissed.

The case stemmed from a Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigation that led to Severson’s arrest in November 2024. Authorities allege she had engaged in a long-term sexual relationship with a student.
