Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon United Fund is kicking off its annual campaign, running from October 19th through December 31st. This year’s fundraising goal is set at $30,000, with all proceeds directly assisting 22 different organizations operating throughout Sheldon and the surrounding communities.
The Sheldon United Fund works by bringing people and resources together to tackle community needs all at once. The idea is that instead of several fund drives asking for donations, the United Fund raises funds for all its member organizations.
Community members looking to contribute can drop off their donations at any of four local locations: Citizens State Bank, Iowa State Bank, Peoples Bank, or Security National Bank. For those preferring to mail their contributions, donations can be sent to the Sheldon United Fund at P.O. Box 41, Sheldon, IA 51201. Detailed explanations outlining the work of each of the 22 supported organizations are available at every donation drop-off location. Some employers also provide the option of giving to the Sheldon United Fund through payroll deduction. Contact your employer for more information.
The board members thank donors for their continued support and generosity.
The organizations this year are the following:
Children’s World daycare, Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County, The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Family Crisis Centers of Northwest Iowa, the Foster Grandparent Program, Girl Scouts, Love in the Name of Christ or “Love INC,” Noah’s Ark Preschool, Orab Music Boosters, Rise Ministries, Inc., The Sheldon Civic Music Association, Sheldon East Elementary Excellence for East, the Sheldon Middle School Backpack Program, the Sheldon Ministerial Association, the Sheldon Prairie Arts Council, the Sheldon Prairie Museum, Sheldon Recreational Trails, Sheldon Sanford Home Health and Hospice, Sheldon Shop with a Cop, the Sheldon Summer Lunch Program, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, and Village Northwest Unlimited– for therapy equipment for individuals with autism.
