(KIWA Staff Photo)Sioux City, Iowa (RI) — Sioux City will be buzzing with gamers, cosplayers, and pop-culture fans this weekend as the annual Sioux City Geek Convention — better known as GeekCon — opens today at the Sioux City Convention Center.
Organizer and president Skyler Gorsett says the event will showcase a wide mix of video games, tabletop games, anime viewings, artists, comics, cosplay, and more.

This year marks the 8th GeekCon, and Gorsett says it promises to be the biggest yet, with integrated community organizations, a large increase in vendor and artist booths, and a long list of regional tournaments expected to draw gamers from all over. Video game competitions will also be part of the lineup.
GeekCon runs through Sunday. Admission is free for kids, while adults will be charged a fee. A silent auction and raffle will help cover convention costs. More information is available on the Sioux City GeekCon website.
