(KIWA Staff Photo)Iowa (RI) — Wet, soggy conditions slowed the early part of the harvest last week.
The USDA’s crop report says there were barely two days suitable for fieldwork, but harvest activity has begun. The report shows 56% of Iowa’s corn has matured, while 4% has been harvested — three points behind last year’s pace.
Soybean harvest is also running behind schedule. 2% of soybeans have been harvested, two points behind last year.
Crop conditions remain strong. 76% of Iowa’s corn and 75% of soybeans are rated good to excellent.
