Iowa (RI) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ashley Hinson says there is more work to be done in Washington, including making recent tax breaks permanent and addressing the nation’s housing challenges.

Hinson, who is running against Democrat Josh Turek and Libertarian Thomas Laehn, says she is prepared to take on those challenges if elected to the Senate.

With Election Day approaching, Hinson is urging supporters to help turn out voters.

Hinson has also addressed campaign advertisements questioning her family’s finances.

Hinson says changes in her family’s net worth stemmed from the sale of her husband’s insurance business after she was elected to Congress.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota campaigned with Hinson in northwest Iowa and later spoke at a Siouxland Chamber of Commerce event in Sioux City.

Thune said even traditionally bipartisan responsibilities have become more challenging.

Thune suggests social media is inflaming the situation. He says he spends a lot of time putting out fires that cannot be prepared for.

Thune has served as Senate majority leader for the past 21 months.
