Iowa DOT Accepting Input on Culvert Project North of Sibley On Hwy 9

Sibley, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking public input on plans for a proposed bridge replacement on Iowa Highway 9, located over Polly Creek north of Sibley in Osceola County. The Polly Creek bridge is just east of Northwest Boulevard (Old Highway 60) on Highway 9.

Improvements for the project include replacing the existing bridge with a new twin reinforced concrete box culvert. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2029.

Iowa 9 will be closed during construction, and an offsite detour will be utilized. The detour will likely use the following routes:

  • Northwest Boulevard
  • 2nd Avenue
  • Iowa Highway 60

The Iowa DOT is accepting public feedback on the proposed $1.15 million project until Monday, August 31st. Those wishing to comment will need to provide their name and email address before submitting their input.
