Statewide Iowa (RI) — The latest fundraising reports are in for the candidates competing to be Iowa’s next governor, covering activity from May 27th through July 14th.
Democrat Rob Sand raised nearly $9.4 million during the period. His campaign says more than 33,000 donors contributed over those seven weeks. Sand also received $2.5 million from the Democratic Governors Association after the June 2nd Primary.
Republican Zach Lahn raised about $6.4 million over the same period, with roughly 78% of that total coming from the Republican Governors Association. Lahn, a businessman who loaned his campaign $2.5 million late last year, has said he does not plan to use personal funds for the General Election and has seen strong support since winning the June Primary.
Since launching a campaign in November, Lahn has raised about $10 million and had around $1 million in his campaign account as of July 14th.
Sand has raised almost $38 million to date and has spent nearly $20 million.
