Sioux City, Iowa (KTIV-TV) — Two men charged in connection with the death of a Sioux Falls teenager — allegedly in Lyon County — are now scheduled for trial on the same date in federal court in Iowa.

On November 4th, a judge granted a request to move Kevin Chapman’s trial from December 14th to December 28th, the date already set for co-defendant Mark Milk’s trial, according to court documents.

Chapman, who also goes by the alias Kevin Anthony Andrews, is listed on the South Dakota Sex Offender Registry. According to the registry, Chapman was convicted in South Dakota in 2003, of felony sexual contact with a minor under 16.

On November 3rd, Federal prosecutors asked for the co-defendants to be tried together.

The government said both men were named in the same superseding indictment and that their defense attorneys did not object to the request.

The charges are connected to the death of Milk’s niece, 14-year-old McKenna Wendel.

Authorities say that they are continuing to investigate what happened to McKenna Wendel.

Wendel was reported missing from Sioux Falls on March 13th. Her remains were found nearly a week later in rural Brookings County, South Dakota.

Wendel is believed to have died from a cocaine overdose. Prosecutors say the alleged crimes, including her death, took place in Iowa’s Northern District.

The judge’s ruling keeps Kevin Chapman’s November 17th deadline for pretrial motions in place, while pausing the federal speedy-trial clock until the joint trial begins.

The complaint, filed September 28th in the Northern District of Iowa, charges Kevin Chapman with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance — cocaine — resulting in death.

The complaint states the offense occurred “in the county of Lyon in the Northern District of Iowa” between January 1st, 2025, and March 17th, 2026.

The complaint is based on an affidavit from Detective Trent Ehler of the Sioux Falls Police Department, who is assigned to the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force and serves as a Homeland Security Task Force Officer.
