Juvenile Passenger In Pickup Driven By Alvord Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Inwood, Iowa — An Alvord teen’s juvenile passenger was taken to a hospital after an accident north of Inwood on Tuesday morning, November 12th, 2024.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, a few minutes after 8:00 a.m., 18-year-old Mckinzie Kay Florey of Alvord was driving a 1998 Chevrolet K2500 pickup westbound on 190th Street.

The vehicle hit a rough patch in the roadway and the driver lost control. The pickup entered the south ditch and rolled before coming to a rest on its tires.

Florey and her juvenile passenger were able to exit the vehicle on their own. Florey received minor injuries and the juvenile passenger was transported to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. The injuries were termed “non-life-threatening.”

The sheriff’s office says the 1998 Chevrolet pickup was a total loss. They tell us that the Inwood Fire and Rescue Department, the Lyon County Ambulance Squad, and Trackside Towing assisted with the response to the accident.
