Lyon County, Iowa — University of Iowa students working alongside the nonprofit group Friends of Blood Run are asking Lyon County residents to complete a short survey regarding the future of the Blood Run National Historic Landmark.
According to project materials, Blood Run is a culturally and historically significant site located in northwest Iowa and served as the historic home of the Oneota culture from approximately 1500 to 1720 A.D. Friends of Blood Run operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving and protecting the landmark while ensuring its lands and stories are preserved for future generations.
What the Survey Aims to Do
Project organizers state that the survey is designed to:
- Gauge what Lyon County residents currently know about Blood Run.
- Determine what information and resources would be most valuable to the community.
- Identify ways Friends of Blood Run can strengthen its outreach and local connections.
According to the student team, feedback collected from the survey will be used to inform recommendations for future communication, education, and public engagement efforts.
