(KIWA Staff Photo)Orange City and Hartley, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Noteboom Oil in Orange City will receive a $30,000 grant to support infrastructure for retail E15, also known as unleaded 88. Brew Oil in Hartley has also been awarded more than $22,000 for a retail E15 site.
The grants are part of a larger $2 million in cost-share grants to expand renewable fuel infrastructure across the state.
Statewide Investment
The awards were announced by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig following the July 29th meeting of the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program (RFIB) Board. The board approved more than $2 million in cost-share grants for 38 E15 and biodiesel projects across Iowa.
The $2.03 million awarded includes:
- 24 ethanol projects totaling more than $1.43 million
- 14 biodiesel projects totaling more than $604,000
The cost-share funding helps retailers offset the expense of modernizing pumps and tanks, expanding access to lower-cost fuels, and opening bigger markets for Iowa corn and soybean farmers.
E15 Availability
E15 is not available year-round in every state. The U.S. Senate is still debating whether to allow nationwide, year-round E15 sales in its current farm bill draft.
