Ocheyedan, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man has been arrested on serious felony drug charges after a search warrant was carried out in Ocheyedan.
A criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office states that 38-year-old Joshua Fields of Ocheyedan is accused of the possession of a controlled substance in quantities high enough to be charged as a felony. He was arrested on Wednesday.
In his statement, the deputy says the sheriff’s office assisted the Estherville Police Department in executing the search warrant in Ocheyedan, where Fields lives. He says they found evidence of drug use and a substance thought to be methamphetamine.
Fields was charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, gathering where controlled substances are used, and possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense. The possession with intent charge is a class B felony, which, in Iowa, is punishable by up to 25 years in prison if he’s convicted. The others are class D felonies and carry 5-year penalties if convicted.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 19th.
At last report, Fields remained in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $30,000 cash or surety bond.
Another person was also charged after the search warrant was carried out. Deputies say 44-year-old Daniel Wilson of Milford was charged with gathering where controlled substances are used. He could face five years in prison if convicted. At last report, he too remained in the jail in Sibley in lieu of a $5000 cash or surety bond.
