(Photo courtesy Sioux County Emergency Management)Hospers, Iowa — One person was injured after a residential structure fire in Hospers on Wednesday morning, September 23, 2026.
According to a press release from Sioux County Emergency Management, the Hospers Fire Department and Hospers Ambulance were dispatched to the residence shortly before 10:10 a.m.
When they got there, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters confirmed all occupants were accounted for before initiating an interior attack to bring the fire under control.
One resident who was inside at the time of the fire sustained injuries while escaping the home. That individual was transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment. The severity of the victim’s injuries has not been released.
Firefighters remained on scene for about two hours conducting overhaul operations and checking for remaining hot spots.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
The Hospers Fire Department and Hospers Ambulance Squad were assisted at the scene by the Granville Fire Department, Alton Fire Department, Sheldon Fire Company, Sioux Center Ambulance Squad, and Sioux County Emergency Management.
Officials state no additional information is available at this time.
