Iowa (RI) — Iowa’s pheasant hunting season opens Saturday morning, and state wildlife officials say hunters should find plenty of birds in the field this year.
Iowa DNR’s Mick Klemesrud says pheasant populations remain strong across much of the state.
Rain in the forecast could make opening-day hunting more challenging.
Klemesrud says this year’s wet conditions have slowed crop harvest, leaving more cover available for pheasants.
He says hunters should find birds throughout much of Iowa, although the highest concentrations remain in the state’s traditional pheasant belt.
Pheasant season opens at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and runs through Jan. 10th. Hunters can find regulations and licensing information at IowaDNR.gov.
