Hospers, Iowa — A police pursuit south of Sheldon led to the response of several officers on Monday, March 3, 2025.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Iowa State Patrol, 31-year-old Kevin Wayne Terry of Minneapolis is accused of eluding an officer. He was arrested on Monday.
In his statement, the trooper says he checked the speed on the Dodge Grand Caravan that Terry was driving, and the equipment said Terry was going 78 miles per hour in a 65 zone. He says he caught up to the vehicle and checked the speed again, and at that time it was over 100 miles per hour. The trooper says he turned on his emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to drive over 100 miles per hour, then slowed down to a stop. It then took off again and finally came to a complete stop on Highway 60 southbound just north of 380th Street, about a mile north of Hospers or about five south of Sheldon.
Terry was charged with eluding, a serious misdemeanor and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.
He faces a preliminary hearing on March 18th.
