(KIWA Staff Photo)Rock Valley, Iowa– A Rock Valley woman was taken to the hospital after a crash in Rock Valley on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 1:00 p.m., 86-year-old Evelyn Bajema of Rock Valley was driving a 2015 Honda southbound on 18th Avenue Southeast in Rock Valley. They tell us that a 2004 Volkswagen was legally parked on the street.
The report says that Bajema struck the parked car, causing her car to flip onto the passenger side, trapping her in the vehicle. Bajema had to be freed by the Rock Valley Fire Department. There was no one in the parked vehicle.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Bajema to Hegg Health Center Hospital.
Bajema’s Honda sustained an estimated $15,000 in damages, and the parked Volkswagen sustained $6,000 in damages.
Bajema was charged with failure to maintain control.
