Sanborn Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sanborn woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sheldon on Sunday, January 7, 2024

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:35 p.m. , 30-year-old Allyson Moser of Sanborn was driving a 2008 Ford Taurus eastbound on Highway 18, two and a half miles east of the Highways 60 and 18 interchange. They tell us that 29-year-old Andrew Sterk of Sheldon was eastbound on 18 in a 2024 Chevy Trax.

The report says that Sterk was slowing down to make a right turn onto their driveway. The deputy’s report says Moser was reading a text message on her phone and didn’t realize that Sterk was slowing down to turn, and Moser rear-ended the Sterk Chevy.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took Moser to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Moser’s Ford Taurus sustained $3,000 in damages, and Sterk’s Chevy Trax sustained $10,000 in damages.

Moser was charged with using an electronic communication device while driving.

SCAT, the Sheldon Fire Company, and Sheldon EMA assisted at the scene.
