Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, August 7th.
The council unanimously approved the consent agenda.
They next discussed banking services. The council approved the five-year proposal from Peoples Bank on a 4-to-1 vote with Council Member Brad Hindt voting no. He stated that it is his belief that all banks should be proposing rates for the exact same thing, not four different proposals for different products. There was much discussion on this issue. If you’d like more information, you can view the meeting’s video online.
The council also approved a formal agreement with Cayler Consulting for assistance regarding the police chief search, at Cayler’s request. Cayler Consulting says they need a formal agreement to satisfy an insurance requirement.
The council then went into closed session, presumably to discuss the police chief position’s conditions of employment and to hold City Manager Sam Kooiker’s annual review.
