Sheldon Pair Face Felony Marijuana Charges

Sheldon — A Sheldon pair has been arrested on felony drug charges.

A criminal complaint filed by Sheldon Police states that 29-year-old Thomas Cruz and 34-year-old Alisa Lewchuk, both of Sheldon are accused of the possession of marijuana. They were arrested on Monday.

In his statement, the officer says a call came into dispatch about an odor of marijuana. They found the odor coming from the home where Cruz and Lewchuk were located. A search warrant was applied for, was received, and was carried out at the home. The officer says the search resulted in the seizure of multiple grams of marijuana.

Both Cruz and Lewchuk were charged with failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony. If convicted, they could face up to five years in prison. They also face misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana.

Cruz faces an initial appearance on Tuesday. No dates have been posted in Lewchuk’s case.

They were booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and were released the same day after posting bond.
