Plymouth County (RI) — A Sioux City woman is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge after allegedly shooting a man to death in rural Plymouth County.
Court documents say 35-year-old Ashley Ruhland had been staying with Justin Emmick at his acreage. The two were outside at a remote corner of the property target shooting when Ruhland allegedly shot Emmick twice.
Ruhland called 9-1-1 and reported she shot Emmick in self-defense, saying she had a protective order against him.
The case remains under investigation.
