Sioux County, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Sioux County Secondary Roads has been awarded $175,875 in federal funding to assist with debris removal following the severe storms and flooding that struck northwest Iowa in June 2024.
The grant was announced Tuesday by the office of U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley and was awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA.
The funding will support countywide debris removal operations tied to the June 24th, 2024 disaster declaration. Grassley says the funding is intended to help Sioux County continue its recovery and rebuilding efforts following the storms, adding that he will continue advocating for federal support for Iowa communities recovering from natural disasters.
The award notice lists Sioux County Secondary Roads as the applicant.
The debris-removal grant is separate from the recently announced FEMA award of more than $4.3 million to the City of Rock Valley for repairs to its water and wastewater treatment, collection, and distribution systems.
The announcement did not provide a schedule for disbursing the Sioux County funding or identify individual debris removal locations.
