Orange City, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — The Sioux County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider final approval of the proposed data center regulations Tuesday, along with a separate proposal that would lift the county’s temporary moratorium on data center development.
The third and final public hearing on the proposed amendment to County Ordinance No. 1 is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room at the Sioux County Courthouse in Orange City.
If approved, the amendment would be adopted as Resolution No. 2026-41. Supervisors would then consider No. 2026-42, which would rescind the county’s data center moratorium. Both measures would take effect upon publication.
The proposed regulations come as PathOne Data Centers continues exploring a potential project in Sioux County. The ordinance includes provisions addressing facility size, water usage, noise standards, and setbacks.
The first two readings of the ordinance were approved on 4-1 votes, with Supervisor Dan Altena casting the lone opposing vote each time.
Tuesday’s action concerns the county’s regulatory framework and moratorium. Approval of the ordinance would not authorize construction of a specific data center project.
