Hull, Iowa — Two people were taken to a hospital by ambulance after a crash on Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2026th.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10 minutes before 4:00 p.m., 69-year-old Pamela Jean Van Sloten of Hull was driving a 2007 Chrysler Aspen and was entering Locust Street from a parking lot. They say 51-year-old Maria Rangel Lemus of Rock Rapids was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Locust Street.
Van Sloten allegedly failed to yield while entering Locust Street and struck the Rangel Lemus vehicle.
The Hull Ambulance took Rangel Lemus and her passenger to Sioux Center Health. Their injuries were called “non-life-threatening.” Van Sloten reported no injuries.
The Van Sloten Chrysler sustained about $1,500 in damage. The Rangel Lemus Volkswagen sustained about $6,000 in damage, according to the sheriff’s office.
They tell us that Van Sloten was cited on a charge of Failure to Yield Upon Entering a Through Highway.
During the investigation, deputies came to believe that Rangel- Lemus’ driver’s license was suspended, so she was arrested and was taken to the Sioux County Jail, where she was charged with Driving While License Suspended, a simple misdemeanor.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the Hull Ambulance Squad assisted them.
