(KIWA Staff Photo)Northwest Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Premier Communications is warning email users about a scam message impersonating the company and claiming changes are being made to its webmail security system.
In an alert shared on social media, Premier says the email appears to come from the company but contains several red flags: unusual font and formatting, vague language, and a reference to attached documents even though none are included.
The example shared by Premier carries the subject line “Important Notice.” It claims the current security system has been phased out and directs recipients to review attached documents. The message also uses a signature identifying the sender as the Premier Communications administrative team.
Premier encourages anyone who receives a similar message to slow down and read carefully before acting. The company says scammers rely on people reacting quickly and making mistakes.
Recipients should not click links or reply to the email. Instead, Premier advises reporting the message and deleting it.
Anyone unsure whether an email is legitimate can contact Premier directly through the company’s contact page. The company is also encouraging people to share the warning so other Premier email users can recognize the scam.
