Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
The main issues on the agenda are a public hearing about changing the relationship between the City of Sheldon and the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation and a public hearing on a proposal to sell seven single-family residential lots near Sheldon Crossing for one dollar apiece.
On the consent agenda — which will be voted on in one vote unless a council member wants to pull an issue from the consent agenda for further discussion — will be items such as the approval of an alcohol license, the approval of applicants to the Sheldon Fire Company and Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, a change order and pay estimate for the water tower project, a pay estimate for the Oak Street project, setting the date and time for a public hearing about a grant agreement with Northwest Iowa Community College that would provide an annual grant to help fund the Lifelong Learning & Recreation Center, a resolution appointing Public Works Director Todd Uhl to the Dakota Mainstem board, and resolutions setting the details of the $3.7 million general obligation capital loan notes for Western Avenue.
In old business are the public hearings for the Sheldon Crossing Housing Incentive and the changes to the City and Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation relationship.
In new business, the council will vote on approving Mayor Greg Geels’ appointment of Sergeant and Interim Chief Eric Meinecke to the Chief of Police position. If approved, Meinecke will be sworn in on November 20th.
Also in new business is a resolution that would approve an agreement with Cayler Consulting to assist with a vacancy that will occur when Meinecke becomes chief.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
