Maurice, Iowa – Two people were taken to the hospital after a motor vehicle accident near Maurice.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Omar Hernandez, age 34 of Maurice, was driving a 2013 Infinity JX35 westbound on 470th Street Friday, Sept. 13th. Brooklyn Albers, age 23 of Akron, was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer westbound on 470th Street behind Omar.
As Omar began to turn onto a private driveway, Albers struck the Infinity. Hernandez and Albers were both transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries.
Alcohol may have been a factor and the accident remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Maurice Fire Department, Maurice First Responders and the Sioux Center Ambulance.
