(KIWA Staff Photo)Iowa (RI) — Wet weather continued to slow Iowa’s harvest progress this past week.
The USDA’s latest crop report says there was just one day suitable for fieldwork during the week that ended Sunday. Corn harvest advanced only one percentage point from the previous week, reaching 5% complete statewide. That puts Iowa’s corn harvest nine percentage points behind last year’s pace.
Soybean harvest also increased by just one percentage point, with 3% of the crop harvested statewide. That trails last year’s progress by 12 percentage points.
Crop experts say there is still time for farmers to catch up if Iowa receives a stretch of dry weather.
