Corrynn A. Thompson, age 96, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa.
Her services will be Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:00pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Sanborn, Iowa with Fr. Tim Hogan ~ officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with the family present will be Monday, October 8, 2012 from 1:00pm until the time of service at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Sanborn, Iowa. The Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Corrynn Adaline Thompson was born in Alvord, IA on September 6, 1916, the daughter of Dallas and Elizabeth (Levins) Thompson. After attending grade and high school in Alvord, Corrynn went to Iowa State Teacher’s College (now UNI) where she received her teaching certificate. She then taught in the rural schools of Lyon County, IA. During World War II, and after studying at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO, she became a civilian instructor at the Army Air Force Training Command in Sioux Falls, SD, teaching International Morse Code and Tactical Procedure – the practice of sending war messages using code. Following the war, Corrynn was a primary grade teacher in Archer, Everly, Sibley and St. Patrick School, Sheldon. She passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa, reaching the age of 96 years and 28 days.
Since 1947, Corrynn has been a member of both St. Patrick Parish, Sheldon and St. Patrick guild. She was also an adopted member of St. Cecelia Parish, Sanborn, IA.
Corrynn is survived by her brother, Adrian “Tommy” Thompson of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; four nieces, Maureen, Margaret, Yvonne “Vonnie” Anderson all of Sheldon and Teri Gene Selden; a nephew, Greg Thompson of Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, La Vohne and Grace Thompson and Myva (Thompson) Anderson; her brother-in-law, M.F. “Mike” Anderson; an infant brother, Bernard John; her sister-in-law, Verle Thompson and a niece, Sandy Thompson.
