Funeral services for Kordell J. Kruse, 62, of Aurelia will be held 10:30 Friday, April 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Michael Agnew officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00, with the family present, at the church. A memorial fund has been established.

Kordell Jay Kruse was born April 11, 1961 the son of Wayne Kenneth and Eldoris Irene (Dykstra) Kruse at Rock Rapids, Iowa. He graduated Central Lyon High School and then attended North West Iowa Community College in Sheldon for three years studying carpentry. His first and only job was with Grundman Hicks Construction in Cherokee which later became Christiansen Construction where he was still employed. He was in the process of retiring to care of his family and grandchildren.
On September 2, 2001 Kordell married Carolyn Lewis in Las Vegas, NV. Kordell loved to ride Harley motorcycles, and drive and take care of his 1980 black Corvette. He liked to spend his spare time remodeling houses, and looking out for and taking care of his family, friends, and co-workers.
Kordell died Sunday, April 16, 2023 at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s in Sioux City.
Preceding Kordell in death were his parents, daughter Ashley Kruse on December 28, 2011, mother-in-law Alice Lewis in January 5, 2023, and son-in-law Juan Murillo on March 9, 2023.
Survivors include: his wife Carolyn Kruse of Aurelia, daughter Alyssa Kruse and her children Bentley, Gabriela, and Layla Murillo all of Aurelia, one sister, Judy and husband Gary Borman of Rock Rapids, father-in-law Jerry Lewis of Aurelia, three brothers-in-law; Robert Lewis and his fiancé Vickie Pelsor of Aurelia, Michael and wife Jennifer Lewis of Carpenter, IA, and Chad and wife Malinda Lewis of Larrabee, IA, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
