Steven Roth age 48 of Ashton, IA, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 surrounded by his family, at his home near Ashton, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father Al Reicks as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. There will be a luncheon following the committal service at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall in Sheldon, IA.Visitation will be Friday, September 5th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.

Steven Lawrence Roth was born on November 29, 1965 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Cecil W. and Lois R. (Leitheiser) Roth. He grew up in Ashton on the family farm. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ashton through grade school, St. Patrick’s Catholic in Sheldon through Jr. High and attended and graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in Granville, IA. In July of 2008, Steven met Robin Baughfman and they were married on May 13, 2013. Steven most recently worked with his dad on the farm which he really enjoyed, and loved teaching his step kids how to farm. He also in the past worked as a welder for a time and a truck driver. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Twisted Drifters MC member. His passion was motorcycle riding, and he was known to put several thousand miles on in summer and even rode in winter. He was named Full Throttle by his MC club because that is how he rode. Steve also enjoyed taking their horses trail riding with the kids. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame for a perfect game for which he was very proud of. He also had several 299 games. Steven was known for his love to tease and have fun with those he held dear, and for his huge giving heart in helping anyone that needed anything. He will be greatly missed.
Steven is survived by his wife, Robin Roth of Ashton, IA; seven children: Tyler (Sommer) Klaassen of Humboldt, IA, Alex Updike of Sheldon, IA, Amanda Meendering of Brandon, FL, Cieara Blumeyer of Ashton, IA, Chris Blumeyer of Fort Dodge, IA, Matt Van Lo of Boyden, IA and Kendra Van Lo of Ashton, IA; parents, Cecil W. and Lois R. Roth of Ashton, IA; two sisters: Nancy (Gary) Lien of Brandon, SD and Sheila Roth of Sioux Falls, SD; two nieces: Mackenzie Lien and Kali Lien; one nephew, Garrett Lien; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; one aunt; four uncles; one cousin; father-in-law, Bill Baughfman and mother-in-law, Mary Baughfman.
