Sheldon, Iowa — Village Northwest Unlimited hosted the 12th annual Run Walk & Roll event on Saturday June 3, 2017. The event had near record participation this year with an outstanding 406 participants, up from 369 in 2016. Of those, 275 participated in the 1 mile walk; 101 participated in the 5K run; and 30 participated in the 10K run. The event raised over $86,000 through corporate sponsorships, private donations and registration fees.
The Run Walk & Roll is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together in support of individuals with disabilities. With the option to do either the mile, 5K or 10K, it’s an event where people of all abilities are able to participate. All funds raised from the Run Walk & Roll are used to provide services and programming with purpose, privacy and dignity for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and traumatic brain injuries.
