Sioux City, Iowa – The 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, will open on Thursday, November 7, with quarterfinal round action.
The top seed in the tournament is regular season champion Midland (11-1 GPAC, 33 pts.), while Hastings is the two seed (10-2 GPAC, 30 pts.). The three seed is Jamestown (10-2 GPAC, 30 pts.). Hastings receives the two seed by way of a head to head win over Jamestown. The fourth seed for the tournament is Dordt (7-4-1 GPAC, 22 pts.). The five seed goes to Briar Cliff (7-5 GPAC, 21 pts.), with the six seed to Concordia (6-4-2 GPAC, 20 pts.). The seventh seed is Northwestern (6-6 GPAC, 18 pts.) and the eighth seed is Morningside (6-6 GPAC, 18 pts.). Northwestern is the seven seed by way of a head to head win over Morningside.
Three points were awarded for every conference win, one for each tie, and no points for a conference loss in the GPAC standings.
Thursday’s winners will meet in the semifinals on Tuesday, November 12, with the GPAC Championship Match on Friday, November 15.
The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league’s second automatic representative, to the NAIA National Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on November 22-23). If the regular season champion (Midland) wins the Tournament, the regular season runner-up (Hastings by tiebreaker) will receive the second NAIA berth to the postseason.
Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Final Site in Orange Beach, Alabama, December 2 – December 7, 2019, at the Orange Beach Sports Complex.
