Northwestern College and Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker announce the hiring of Shannon Andringa as the head coach of the Red Raider women’s soccer program.
Andringa played four years for the Spring Arbor University (Mich.) women’s soccer team, leading the Cougars to the 2015 national championship. Andringa earned All-American honors in 2015 and was named team captain her final two seasons. She received both all-conference and Scholar Athlete recognition and won multiple high school state titles playing for Unity Christian in Hudsonville, Mich.
“I am thrilled to be joining Northwestern and to build upon their tradition of honoring Christ through excellence in athletics,” said Andringa. “As a former NAIA athlete, I know the impact that these four years can have on a student athlete. I am excited to develop student-athletes not only as players, but as followers of Christ. The sport of soccer has given me so much. I cannot wait to play a small part in my players’ lives and to watch them become stronger players, students and participants in this world. I am looking forward to working alongside the rest of the athletic staff as we develop champions on and off the field. Go Red Raiders.”
Andringa has spent the last four years as a coach within the nationally ranked Michigan Futbol Academy and for East Grand Rapids High School, where she also served as a special education paraprofessional. She is a certified coach within the United States Soccer Federation.

She stood out in the hiring process as someone who will fit in with the other championship coaches we have on staff.
