Beth Goetz was formally introduced as the new director of athletics at Iowa. Goetz had been interim AD since the retirement of Gary Barta last August.
Goetz takes over at a time of rapid change in college athletics, including the addition of four more schools to the Big Ten in July.
Goetz is the first woman to lead the entire athletic department and is the only female AD in the current Big Ten Conference.
As interim AD Goetz made the decision to move on from Hawkeye offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz in late October.
With the N-I-L, rising coaches salaries and increased travel there will be challenges ahead.
