The Nighthawks come in at 7-2 with the Crusaders coming in at 8-1. The regular season meeting was an offensive shoot out that went to Heelan 49-35 back on October 2nd in the seasons 6th week down in Sioux City. Both teams come in with a lot of momentum. Boyden Hull Rock Valley finished the year with a 53-35 win over Denison Schleswig while Heelan wrapped up the year with a 65-12 win over LeMars.
The Heelan offense is led by sophomore Sabein Clark who has rushed for 1560 yards and 19 touchdowns. Senior Miles Van Maanen leads a more diversified Nighthawk offense with 1060 yards and 14 touchdowns during the regular season.
Nighthawks head coach Corey Brandt feels defending the Crusaders begins with Clark.
As far as the keys to the game it’s fundamentals and play makers will need to be play makers.
After watching film of the first meeting and recent Boyden Hull Rock Valley games head coach Jerry Steffen of the Crusaders said the Nighthawks are who they thought they were.
Turnovers nearly cost Heelan in a 10-7 win over Storm Lake. Eliminating mistakes Wednesday night will be a top priority.
