Broers to Run For Dordt

Sioux Center, Iowa — Katie Broers, a senior at Unity Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the women’s cross country and track programs.

Broers has been a key contributor to the Knights four consecutive state meet appearances during her cross country career. As a freshmen Unity finished second overall, with Broers placing a career best in 19thplace. As a sophomore, she matched her individual finish, coming in 19th once again, leading Unity to a fourth place team finish. On the track, Broers was part of a 4×800 team that placed first at the Iowa State Track meet in 2014 and fourth in 2016. During her career, Broers has earned War Eagle All-Conference honors.

“We are excited to have Katie join our program. Katie is a competitive young lady who has had high level coaching at Unity Christian from Coach Kauk. I believe she will transition quickly to college running and can have an impact on our cross country and middle distance program during her running career. We look forward to watching her race and continue to develop this spring in track,” said Dordt College head cross country coach Nate Wolf.

Katie is the daughter of Troy and Dana Boers of Sioux Center, Iowa. She intends to study Nursing at Dordt.
