Christy To Continue Golf, Basketball Careers At Northwestern

Kyle Christy of Orange City has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball and golf careers at Northwestern College this fall.

Christy is a 6’4″ shooting guard who played two years for the MOC-Floyd Valley High School basketball team. Christy averaged 14.5 points, five rebounds and 1.5 assists in leading the Dutch to a top 10 ranking, a Siouxland Conference title and 19-4 overall record. He made 59 three-pointers and shot 47% from beyond the arc in earning second team all-conference honors.

“Kyle is a long, athletic wing who can shoot it and loves to compete,” said Northwestern Head Coach Kris Korver. “He worked hard in the off-season and turned in an outstanding senior season. Kyle is a great teammate with phenomenal character who will make the people around him better. We are excited to have him in our basketball program.”

A three-year letter winner in golf heading into his final season this spring, Christy is two-time all-conference selection (Soph. / Jr.) and helped lead his team to the conference championship last year. Christy was a state qualifier as a freshman and carries a scoring average of 38 (9 holes) and 77 (18 holes) with a career best of 34 and 73. An honor roll student, Christy plans to study either Accounting or Education at Northwestern. He is the son of Greg and Michelle.

“Kyle works hard on his game and continues to improve his fundamentals to become a more consistent player,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Aaron Aberson. “Kyle is a proven leader and I am excited to have as a Red Raider. He will make an immediate impact on our golf team and our campus community.”
