Auburndale, Florida — The Dordt baseball team swept Trinity Baptist Saturday morning. Winning the first game 7-3, and the second 18-5.
Dordt scored three in the first and two in the second on the way to an eventual 7-3 win over Trinity Baptist in Florida on Saturday morning.
Chase Edwards provided a two run double in the first inning and John Emerson also had a run scoring single in the frame. The runs in the second inning came on a double by Luis Camacho that scored Austin Pullar and Logan Cline.
Trinity Baptist got two in the third but Dordt answered with one in the fourth and after a Trinity Baptist run in the fifth made it 6-3 Dordt scored a run in the bottom of the sixth for the final of 7-3.
Dordt got two hits each from Logan Cline, Chase Edwards and John Emerson and totaled 10 hits. Emerson had a triple and single while Logan Cline had a pair of singles. Edwards had a single and double on the day and Aaron Eshelman and Luis Camacho had a homerun and double respectively.
Gyeongju Kim went the distance on the mound and allowed two earned runs on eight hit with 11 strikeouts and he walked one.
Dordt made it a sweep of Trinity Baptist with an 18-5 win on Saturday. Dordt trailed 3-1 after one inning but put together a 10 run second inning followed by a three run third and fourth.
John Emerson was 4-4 at the plate with four singles and three runs scored with two runs batted in. Lucas Nelson, Chase Edwards and Luis Camacho all had two hits. Edwards had a homerun and double with six runs batted in and Camacho had a triple and double with two runs scored. Nelson also had a triple and single and a run batted in with three runs scored.
Logan Cline and Aaron Eshelman had a triple and double each and Eshelman knocked in two runs.
Diego Benitez pitched four innings and allowed three earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Willem Hoekstra pitched a perfect inning and Logan Horne allowed a hit and struck out two in an inning of work. Nick Yeager also pitched a frame and struck out two.
Dordt is now 5-5 this season and will face Saginaw Valey and Webber International on Monday, March 8.
